Chris-Craft 1946 - 1949 20' Custom Runabout
The 20' Custom Runabout was the only boat Chris Craft built after the war with leather seats. The bright red leather contrasts nicely with the blonde and red-mahogany stain. Possibly as a cost saving measure, the interior panels were upholstered with matching red vinyl
The transom is beautifully crafted with a "tumblehome" or slant. It is also rounded from side to side.
The fancy folding windshield tilts forward and fastens to the deck on little brackets with knurled nuts.
Chris Craft included two storage cubbies on the back of the front seat. Perfect for sunglasses and cell phones.
The seats and dashboard are all red leather. A small Chris-star-Craft logo embellishes the dash. The simple two spoke steering wheel is understated for such an upscale boat.
White piping is correct on the seats. You will sink right in to this cushy leather.
The above picture of Hungry Blonde's transom was taken before the bottom paint was applied. The windshield folds forward and lays on the deck on either side of the centrally located vent. A very nice feature on a hot day.
